So I'm inspired by
mneko 's recent art piece detailing a totally fake history of two of his characters has inspired me to do a few for Toroth and friends as anime spin-offs. I need help, lazyweb, with getting some of the japanese right. Maybe there's also some kind of neat pun in japanese I'd miss?
Like, I realize the closest to Toroth I'd get is "Torasu". For the name, would it be in katakana?
NOw, "show" titles... I also have no idea how to properly write like, "Let's Learn, Toroasu!" for one show.
"Double Dragons: Bluescales and Torasu" would it be more aesthetically pleasing or natural sounding to write out "bluescales" in katakana, or find the japanese equivalent to saying "blue scales (like reptile scales)"? HOw would I write all of that anyhow?
And of course, now anime-ish spin off would be complete without a magical girl series, so
jadra wil get her own series "Jadra: Princess of PIckles".
Now would anyone with Japanese knowledge be willing to help me out?

Date: 2009-02-20 05:28 pm (UTC)Toroth:
トロス
"to-ro-su"
(personally i prefer this version [the resident native prefers this as well], so I'll use in in the rest of the examples)
Let's learn, Toroth
トロス君、一緒に勉強しましょう!
"torosu-kun, issho ni benkyou shimashou!"
(literally, Toroth, let's study together, sounds like you're speaking to Toroth)
Is Bluescales a name? Then it has to be in Katakana:
ブルースケールズ
"bu-ruu-su-kee-ru-zu"
Double Dragons: Bluescales and Toroth
双龍のブルースケールズとトロス
"souryu no buruusukeeruzu to torosu"
(literally, the pair of dragons bluescales and toroth)
I'm not sure how to pronounce Jadra, so here are your options:
ジェードダ
"jay-do-ra"
ジャドラ
"jah-do-ra"
Assuming it's the first one,
for "Jadra: Princess of Pickles" you also have some choices:
漬け物姫のジェードラ
"tsukemono-hime no jay-do-ra"
(in this case, tsukemono specifically means Japanese style pickled vegetables, this one sounds funnier)
or
ピクルス姫のジェードラ
"pi-ku-ru-su no jay-do-ra"
(this one just uses the katakana version of pickles, not as funny as the above version)
hope this helps!

I'm going to be going with ジェードダ for Jadra, since that's the closest way to pronounce it.
